I’m so thankful to say that aside from a few downed trees, our neighborhood was largely spared from the wrath of Hurricane Sandy, and all our friends and family in the area are safe and sound. The photos and news coverage of the mass destruction have been just unreal, and my heart goes out to all who are still dealing with the aftermath.

On a happier note, Toby strut his stuff last weekend at a Halloween contest at our local Petco, and the little guy won! Without knowing a word of French! His costume consisted of:

  • a white tee from the toddler section of Target. I snipped off the long sleeves, and stripified the body using painter’s tape and black spray paint
  • an awesome felt beret from Dog in a Fez, which Toby didn’t try to yank off his head even once
  • a tissue paper flower pin I DIYed using the same method as my birthday flower wall

Wishing you all a safe and happy Halloween! If you’re planning on a spooky night in, here’s a list of scary movies to rent.
