the little white dress

Lavish Alice Structured Skater Dress from Asos | Aqua Party Dress from Bloomingdale's | Cruz Dress from Nasty Gal | That's A Wrap Dress from Tobi

Memorial Day is sneaking up on us, and that means it’s almost time to switch out our little black dresses for their white counterparts! Or maybe you already have, you fashion rebel, you. Getting dressed is so effortless when you can pull on a crisp white dress and be out the door in 5 minutes flat without wondering if you’re clashing with your purse and/or shoes. Did I mention that all these beauties are under $100?

a hint of spring

a hint of spring

The streets are unexpectedly covered in snow and a horrible icy slush right now, so I’ve come to terms (kind of) with the fact that I won’t be packing away any mittens & snow boots this week. In an act of defiance, I traded in my usual black leather purse for this hot pink number! It really pops against my olive wool coat, and the color makes me dream of warmer months ahead.

Marimekko Bag Clutch from Shannon | Envelope Clutch from Ann Taylor | Hard Candy Clutch from Nasty Gal | Clutch Bag With Double Tassel Zip from ASOS

I read somewhere that the average woman’s purse weighs 5 to 10 pounds, and judging from how I sometimes feel after running around town for a full day, I believe it! This means that downgrading to a chic clutch more often is totally doctor recommended right? Here are some pretty picks I’d love to welcome into my closet…you know, for my health and all.

smitten with mittens

1. Alpaca Bunny Mittens from Darling Clementine | 2. Graph Mittens from Donna Wilson | 3. Ditsy Fairisle Mittens from Orla Kiely | 4. Colorblock Mittens from J.Crew | 5. Jane Norman Gray Leopard Print Mittens from Lyst | 6. Merino Wool Fair Isle Mittens from Brooks Brothers

First of all, thank you SO much for all the sweet comments about the launch of Little White Whale Studio! Putting yourself out there can always be a bit nerve-wracking, so your support means the world to me.

Second of all, it’s cold out there, so keep your mitts warm in a cute pair of mittens! Yes, it’s true that they render you pretty much immobile and are the height of kindergartner fashion, but they’re so cozy that I can’t help but have several pairs to get me through the winter months.

wendy’s lookbook

I don’t follow a ton of fashion blogs, but I’ve been hooked on Wendy’s Lookbook ever since I discovered her adorably creative YouTube videos. This girl’s a pro at mixing prints and textures into gorgeous outfits that ooze sophistication, yet are totally wearable in real life, plus I love the shorts/skirt + jacket combo that she’s got down to a science! I have to stop myself from pinning every image on her blog and looking like some sort of creeper…but umm I want to!

I’m utterly enchanted by these chic, yet simple rings…my precioussss. Frodo Baggins, eat your heart out!

all mixed up

I’m not usually too adventurous when it comes to mixing patterns, as I think there can be a fine line between looking amazing and looking a bit like a crazy lady when you’re not a fashion maven. However I brought home these cute polka dot shorts last week, and there was instant magnetism with my trusty blue gingham shirt. They make a pretty cute couple, no?
