Moths always bring up memories of summer nights with pulsating clouds of fluttery wings swarming the lights by the door…and the subsequent shrieking that breaks the quiet as I flail my arms and run through them all to get safely inside. Ahhh the joys of summer. If only real life moths were as lovely (and still) as these stunning textile creations by Yumi Okita!
I’ve come down with a bad case of beetlemania after spotting these gorgeous illustrations by UK-based designer Adam Gale. Graceful lines and vivid colors transform the creepy crawlies into exquisite creatures I’d be happy to welcome into my living room…erm, in print form, that is. Check out more from this series over here!
I love what spring brings – chirping birds, open windows, blooming flowers, and terribly itchy eyes. Oh wait, scratch that last one. I’ve never had any problems with seasonal allergies until a few years ago, when I transformed into a Claritin-popper overnight. In fact, my eyes are already getting that dreaded itchy feeling as I type this. Sigh. Eating local honey can supposedly help your body become accustomed to pollen and reduce allergy symptoms, so I’m going to try it this season! Hopefully making a beeline (haha) to the honey stand at the farmer’s market will cure what ails me.
These beautiful, life-size pins are modeled after 11 species of ladybugs, and each one is handpainted by Diana Eng (who starred in Season 2 of Project Runway!). Aren’t the colors and patterns just stunning? Mother Nature really is the best designer!

I’ve always loved the romantic feel of mismatched vintage tea sets, so it’s no surprise that I find these butterflies by lightly absolutely exquisite. The best part is that they’re created from reclaimed fine bone china saucers – so schmancy and eco-friendly!
I’m absolutely terrified of 99% of bugs. I know there are all kinds of benefits to having them around, but couldn’t they evolve to look a little less horrifying? Take some cues from baby koalas, insects. THESE lightning fast terrors are the absolute worst, but a spider can clear me out of a room in under 5 seconds as well. In fact, I’m surprised I was able to put this post together without running screaming from the computer.
