My eyes are itching like crazy. My nose is giving Rudolph a run for his money. I’ve been buried under a mountain of tissues the past couple of weeks. And yet I STILL want to fill every corner of our house with flowers, seasonal allergies be damned! Luckily I can admire these beautiful “blooming” illustrations over at Camp Pretty without having to reach for my Visine – swoon!
Aren’t these floral creations stunning? The vibrant colors, textures, and patterns all work together to form the prettiest eye candy. Arizona-based artist Kathy Klein calls them danmalas based on a mashup of the vedic sanskrit words dan (“the giver”) and mālā (“garland of flowers”), and she leaves them out in nature for people to discover and reflect upon. “The danmalas remind us all to listen to the unheard voice of nature, creation, and the eternal mystery.”

Our fine feathered friends here are made entirely from flower petals, and I must say that I’ve never seen lovelier plumage – the colors are textures are simply striking! Hong Yi is known as the artist who “loves to paint, but not with a paint brush”, and it’s easy to see why. Check out more from her “Birds Made of Flowers” series and prepare to be awed!

I’ve always been fascinated with the art of taking things apart, so it’s no surprise that these stunning photographs of deconstructed flowers by photographer Fong Qi Wei would make my head turn! Seeing all their colorful petals laid out in this manner makes me appreciate the beauty of flowers in an entirely different light, and they remind me a bit of a fireworks display! Check out the rest of the series here.
